About Mike
My name is Mike Hughes and I’m one of your Board members. I moved to Boardman in March of 2020. My very first day day on the job was the unofficial “official” start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. As Boardman’s new Fire Chief, this was a heck of a first day to say the least. The pandemic totally changed the Fire and EMS delivery system. I have spent over 35 years in the Fire and EMS industry. I spent time as a flight medic and SWAT Medic. I have served on school boards and have been a labor president.
As Boardman’s Fire Chief my number one focus and goal is to provide the best prehospital emergency medical care, fire and rescue service possible. Boardman Fire Rescue District provides 24-hour a day service. Our Firefighter/EMT’s response to emergency incidents within the national standard of 85 seconds, which translates to better medical service and reduced fire loss.
What drew me to Boardman is the family focused, close knit community. The people that make up the communities of Boardman and Northern Morrow County are very supportive and caring!
